In Sheeps Clothing HiFI Record Club

We’ve chosen four record clubs that showcase a thoughtful and diverse selection of vinyl with records that bend genres, celebrate legends and offer you something that you might not have come across otherwise. There is something for every vinyl collector — the element of surprise, the thrill of a limited edition pressing, the golden age of jazz, and a vinyl x wine pairing hand-picked by a GRAMMY(R)-nominated recording artist.

  • We begin our Record Club Journal series with In Sheep’s Clothing’s HiFi Record Club, an analog music discovery service that sends out carefully chosen records each month. No two members ever receive the same releases. Each box feels like a quiet exchange between curious listeners, guided by taste, instinct and the thrill of finding something you didn’t know you needed.

A big part of the club is the element of surprise. Many of the records aren’t available in the In Sheep’s Clothing webshop or through traditional distribution and quantities are often limited. Their curation focus is on non-algorithmic discovery, new music that deserves attention alongside overlooked classics and essentials.

Genre helps the team to organize what they love, but it doesn’t define it. What matters most is depth, both spiritual and sonic – music that blooms with volume and reveals its character the longer you listen. Genre-curious subscribers can sign up and choose from up to twelve categories, including jazz, ambient, Japanese, dub and global sounds.

  • There are two subscription tiers: two records a month or three records a month. The team typically plans only a month ahead, selecting 20 to 25 unique titles each cycle, with anywhere from five to thirty-five copies of each going out. Boxes are shipped so they arrive before the next billing date.

In Sheep’s Clothing Hifi Record Club launched in Los Angeles during the pandemic lockdown in 2021, powered by the success of the influential Arts District listening cafe. The city’s deep international network of DJs, curators, label owners and artists inspires diverse musical offerings and informs the record club’s curation. The team brings a distinct history and set of ears that makes the process feel more like an ongoing conversation than a formula. What they choose isn’t just what they like; it’s what feels vital in the moment and worth sharing.

Wrensilva owners who sign up will receive a free ISC x AM Sound limited-edition vinyl brush by entering the code WRENSILVA at sign-up. Available while supplies last.
