What makes a Wrensilva console sound unlike any other record player?

At Wrensilva, our goal is simple: stay honest to the music. Our record consoles are designed to deliver a warm, true, and faithful sound. That’s why sound is never an afterthought. It’s part of the fabric of our product development process, guided by close collaboration with music creators and a deep respect for the craft. The result is a listening experience that feels expansive and alive, with rich low-end, sparkling highs, and a wide, room-filling soundstage that extends beyond the console itself.

Go behind the scenes with Wrensilva Co-Founder and Head of Audio, Scott Salyer, to hear how every Wrensilva is meticulously tuned for true-to-the-artist sound, and how the console’s design helps bring that sound to life.

  • Q: What is the sound of Wrensilva?

A: Our signature is a warm, true, faithful sound. It’s not about us, it’s about what the artist made. Which is difficult to stay out of the way of, and why collaborating with creators from the sound community, like Giles Martin, Manny Marroquin, and Joe Harley is so important to us. You have to hear it to get a sense but music in the room with you is a totally different thing than music through headphones.

  • Q: What differentiates the Wrensilva sound?

A: Proprietary acoustic and electronics design with leading audio technology brings room-filling power, a big soundstage (so the music feels like it’s coming from all around you, not just from the speakers), precise imaging (so you can pick out where each instrument or voice is placed, almost like you’re in the studio), and a warm tone. There's a reason you'll find a Wrensilva in the home of so many top music artists and producers around the world. Nothing else sounds like a Wrensilva.

“It sounds like you're in the studio as the band cut the record. That’s the level of clarity and fidelity we capture with the Wrensilva Signature Sound.”

  • Q: What contributes to the Wrensilva sound experience?

A:  1. Premium speaker drivers and proprietary crossovers are engineered to deliver a room-filling HiFi stereo sound stage

    2. A reimagined deck featuring a floating split-plinth belt-driven turntable that eliminates speaker vibration from entering the needle.

  • Q: How does the split plinth design of Wrensilva consoles address vibration issues?

A: The split plinth design isolates the turntable from motor vibrations, ensuring high-fidelity playback without interference. The really special part that you normally don't see is the motor being split from the floating part of the plinth. This eliminates the small mechanical vibrations from the motor finding its way to the stylus and adding noise to the playback. The split plinth – isolates the record from motor vibration. The floating turntable – isolates the turntable from speaker vibration. The suspended speaker gap – isolates the unit from speaker vibration.

Q: How does the crossover contribute to the sound quality of Wrensilva consoles?

A: A crossover is a crucial component inside a speaker that directs specific frequencies to the appropriate drivers–sending low frequencies to the woofer and high frequencies to the tweeter. In Wrensilva consoles, the crossover is carefully tuned to ensure smooth phase integration between these drivers. That means all the sound waves are working together, resulting in consistent sound quality regardless of the listener's position in the room.

  • Q: Can I play vinyl through my Sonos system?

A: Yes, all of our consoles have full Sonos functionality, allowing you to easily integrate vinyl into your Sonos home system.

Q: Can a subwoofer be connected to your consoles?

A: We tune our consoles with plenty of low bass, so a subwoofer typically isn't needed. That said, if you still want to connect a subwoofer, you can do so by connecting to the pre-preamp line-outs we provide in our consoles.
